So I need to still read the Lux series but read this as a stand-alone and followed along just fine. I adored Luc and I guessed the big secret very early on. It did not detract from my enjoyment as I adored the book. I adored the hate to love trope as well as the other tropes used in this series. I am glad Evie and Luc are starting to get some clarification. I adore the both of them. I love seeing Luc’d restraint and Evie being conflicted. I am excited to see what happens next and want to read all the Lux books that started this spin off. I loved that the author brought in the idea of current affairs to mirror what is happening with the Luxen in this series. It made the book feel especially relevant and added a layer of depth.
