Jennifer L. Armentrout is always an auto buy/ auto read for me, which is why the second I received this book, I immediately started reading. Once I picked it up, I couldn’t put it down. It was such a fun and exciting read.

The Darkest Star is about seventeen year old Evie who is just starting her senior year. When she gets caught up in a raid for a club where surviving Luxen can mingle freely, she meets Luc. Although at first she thinks that he’s Luxen, she soon discovers that there is more than she knows and begins to question everything she was taught.

Our main character is Evie. We follow her narrative as she questions everything that she thought she knew about the Luxens and her world. I really liked her and enjoyed reading her narrative. She was spunky and brave and everything that a main character, and a characters that we love from Armentrout’s books, are. I was fully invested in her story, and Luc’s as well. Luc was swoon worthy and sarcastic and funny. I really enjoyed reading about him and I was so glad that he now has a series just for himself.

This is a spin off to Armentrout’s Lux series, however you don’t have to read them to read this one. This does take place after the invasion in the Lux series, but Armentrout does a great job of introducing this world without it being overbearing and confusing. It was easy to follow, as well as fun and exciting.

Overall, I enjoyed diving back into the world of the Lux. This has everything that readers enjoy from previous Jennifer L. Armentrout books, from swoon worthy moments, action, and everything in between. It wad a quick, fun read and I cannot wait to see what else is in store for us.
