First things first, I am a loyal Lux fan. Katy and Daemon Black are two of my all-time favorite characters, and the Lux series is one of my top three favorite series. It's hard for me to move on in such cases. I'm loyal to my characters!
That said, I think Lux (and Luc) fans will be glad to be back in this world. I would definitely recommend a re-read of the Lux series if you haven't read it recently. I re-read the last two books earlier this year and I still wish I'd reread them closer to reading The Darkest Star.
This is classic Jennifer L. Armentrout, for sure. It has all the swoony bits, action, and humor that is her trademark in her YA fantasy/sci-fi. Science fiction isn't one of my top genres but I always make exceptions for my favorite authors. It's great to be back in that universe and Luc and Evie are great characters.
