Jennifer Armentrout returns to the world of her bestselling series bringing along familiar and new faces. The Darkest Star tells the story of Luc and the secrets hidden in the aftermath of the invasion. Directly affected by those secrets is Evelyn Dasher who feels a spark of recognition when she stumbles upon Luc in his club, Foretaken. Their chance meeting sets off a chain of events that no one could have predicted, but puts many in danger. The Darkest Star is a mix of dark suspense and teen angst that readers who have been fans from the beginning will love.

I read the original Lux series way back when but I didn't care for it. I thought the character's were too juvenile in the style of speech and the actions didn't really pair with their age. With The Darkest Star there is a significant improvement in the voices of the characters that is more in line with what I expect for teens and YA. The plot is cohesive and well-crafted, but overall I thought it was missing that, "Wow, I've been waiting for this forever!" factor.
