More books in the Lux world! I have to say, I’m not that big of a fan of more books in a world years after the supposed final book came out. I dunno, that’s just me. But, I loved the other Lux books and I love Jennifer Armentrout’s writing style, so though I’d definitely give this one a shot!

This book was interesting, but not in a good way. There was information that was withheld and I kept reading because I wanted to know what happened. But there was simply too much avoidance happening. It made it kind of irritating. There never felt like there was a good reason for characters to not GET TO THE POINT. Stuff just dragged on and it grated on my nerves. I think it was supposed to be something like snarky comments and banter is what sidetracked everything, but that didn’t come across at all.

I never liked Luc. I’ll say that outright. I was never sure where people got their love for him from? Anyway, he was supposed to be this ‘hotttttt guy’ and he was, since we was described heavily that way. But that’s where it ends. I found him possessive and even a little creepy. There is some backstory to him, but that is not enough to justify the way he treats Evie.

There was such a weird case of ‘kinda insta-love’. Looking back, it was just kind of bizarre and I think the information given at the end of the book was supposed to explain that, but it… didn’t? The romance simply wasn’t there for me. The enemies-to-lovers was too poorly done.

Also, I think I would have enjoyed this book so much more if I hadn’t read the Lux series. There is too much knowledge and too much knowing where these books usually go. It kinda ruined it for me. There were similar instances in this book that happened in the first Lux book and I’m not sure if they were supposed to be parallels, but it just felt more like a copy than anything else.

There were some parts that I liked! I liked seeing glimpses of old characters. And some parts of the mystery really were interesting! Evie was solid character and I loved seeing her develop through everything.

It should be really interesting to see where this series goes. I think it has the potential to be really good!
