First of all - the cover on this book is stunning. I love it and even if I knew nothing else about the story or the author, I would have been drawn to it.
I am familiar with this author, however, and a little bit familiar with the background on this new series. And now? Having read the first few chapters? I am dying for more.
The writing is engaging. It seems to be geared toward younger readers, but I had no problem connecting with it as an adult. The storyline is fascinating and it seems to be paced in such a way that it didn't get bogged down in detail, but I also didn't feel like I wasn't getting enough from it. This was a phenomenal teaser and I definitely want to read the rest!
