Going in, I didn't expect too much. I liked the Darkest Minds, but as I read the subsequent books I tired of the world a bit. Plus, the Darkest Legacy is a spin off book, which isn't exactly my thing. However, when I got into the book was actually quite good! I had always been a fan of Zu and it was nice to re-immerse myself in the world through her perspective. Although I think that the length was a bit unnecessary, the writing was fast paced and the story was compelling. It did sag in parts, but by the end I was struggling to put this book down. This book also did me good with nostalgia--I really enjoyed seeing old characters come back together. Overall, this book definitely surpassed my expectations and while it definitely had a raring plot, I also really enjoyed seeing Zu's personal growth over the course of the novel.
