I couldn’t believe Mrs. Bracken came back with a fourth book to her highly praised trilogy! I had to reread the Darkest Minds Trilogy (as well as the novellas) in lieu of The Darkest Legacy. But, I was surprised by the approach Bracken took with Suzume (Zu). First off, the book takes place five years after the ending of Into the Afterlight, so Zu is older and wiser, but the world she lives in is still sh*tty. I loved how Bracken wrote Zu’s character and from her perspective it was refreshing and I didn’t know I needed this! As far as the plot goes, it was a lot more heavy I would say than her other books, but it was enjoyable to see the choices Zu would make that were completely different than we would see from Ruby, and that’s good. Bracken effectively wrote Zu’s POV and I live for it! I stan Bracken’s works and can’t wait to read her future books!
