For fans of The Darkest legacy, this book represents a chance to get another look into the world, from the point of view of a favorite character from the original trilogy (at least in my opinion). It was nice to see Zu as more than the little girl sidekick, as well as expand to introduce some fresh, new faces. I also like that this book does what so many series don't do- show what happens beyond a dramatic conclusion that usually involves a major governmental or societal shift. If you loved the first trilogy, definitely give this a try. But if you were just meh on it, maybe pass. I think my personal experience suffered from reading the original trilogy back to back to back, so I ended up being a little burned out on the world by the time The Darkest Legacy rolled around. This book is also on the heftier side, so if you're not all in on the story, it may seem a bit too long.
