The Darkest Glare is a true story of murder, blackmail, and real estate greed in 1979 Los Angeles. This is an interesting, unique noir-ish true crime story by Chip Jacobs. I typically don't prefer to read about true crime as I prefer true crime stories as TV series. That being said, I thought this book was okay. I appreciate that the book was well researched and well-written, but the author's writing style was not for me - I felt like Jacobs included too many descriptors for my liking. There is already a lot of drama in the book so the extra descriptors seemed unnecessary. I think with the right narrator, perhaps an audio version would be better suited for this book. I wanted to like this book but it just wasn't for me.

Many thanks to Bookish First, Rare Bird Books, and Chip Jacobs for providing me with an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
