Jessica Goodman is back with another YA Thriller. I loved her other books They Wish They Were Us and They'll Never Catch Us. The Counselors felt similar and different in ways. It had a very clear setting - Camp Alpine Lake. Our main character Goldie is the only kid from her town that goes there every summer. Every year her best friends Imogen and Ava go there too. But a lot happened over the past year that Goldie hasn't told them. She did something for a boy that made her an outcast, and her camp friends begin to realize something is seriously wrong as they venture out on town adventures. Then. . . said boy shows up dead. As always, this author created twists you won't see coming, with new plot lines and characters. The atmosphere of a summer camp makes it feel more fun than the other two books. The only thing that frustrated me was Goldie's past choices.
