When Tara Connelly is released from prison after serving eighteen months for a drug charge, she returns to the home she once shared with her sister, her brother, and her nephew. She knows it will be tough rebuilding her life, but it's even tougher doing it amongst her siblings' struggles. Her brother is a single father still feeling the effects of a traumatic brain injury, and her sister, always the one in charge, is struggle to keep up her strength while hiding her own secrets.

Tara is determined to make a life for herself, and though she isn't immediately looking for romance, it comes for her--but as the family's problems start to compound, her entire future is threatened. It's up to the siblings to either be honest with each other or risk losing each other.

I can't say enough how much I enjoyed this book. It was a buddy read, so we stuck to a particular schedule to complete it, and it seemed like each section ended far before I was ready for it to be over. Author Tracey Lange fits so much heart and soul into a relatively slim novel, and I wouldn't have minded if it were to go on for another hundred or so pages.

It's a book about redemption and forgiveness, and without being heavy handed, gives the reader a gentle reminder to be easy not only on ourselves but each other--you never know what someone else is going through or why. The characters are all broken by something, and it was touching seeing them stand by each other. And the subtle humor in Conor's relationship to his family was perfect.

I think I might have just found a new favorite author, and I can't wait to read more from her.
