I really was ambivalent about reading this excerpt. The cover did nothing for me and the write-up didn't seem to be anything special, but one of the joys about participating in this site is that you can dip into books you might otherwise never know about.
There is no doubt that the author can write a story that starts off with a bang. Unfortunately, it reads like an old Dragnet or one of the hardboiled detective stories, which is just not a genre I am interested in. And I think it will be a bit more gruesome than I'm willing to read. I have a friend who would love this, though, and I'm sure others will as well. Just not for me.
