This was my first spooky read for the month of October and it was perfect! It was everything I could ask for in a spooky young adult book. It had the creepiness factor, it was an easy and quick read, and there was no end to the drama!

The whole companion aspect of the story gave me the creeps. I kept trying to picture myself having to share a room with a mysterious, catatonic person where weird things keep happening around me and I was not having it. There’s no way I would be able to do that. It definitely had me sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the next weird thing to happen. There were so many different details of the book that helped to lend to the overall creepiness, however, as a young adult book, it did not get overly scary. It was about the amount you would expect for a young adult novel.

While I had somewhat figured out what was going on, I couldn’t quite piece together the details of how it was happening so I was still left somewhat surprised by the ending. It didn’t even bother me that I had an inkling of what was going on because I was so engrossed in the story that it didn’t matter. This was such a fast and easy read that was definitely interesting from the beginning to the very end.

Thank you to BookishFirst and Penguin Teen for a finished copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
