I've read lots of adult books that are very similar to this, so I guessed the twist pretty quickly on. That didn't mean I didn't enjoy it! From the very beginning, you can tell that there is something wrong with this house and this family, and your instinct is to tell Margot to get out and to get out ASAP. The book is very creepy, atmospheric, and twisted! At least once or twice I visibly cringed at what was happening, and the whole thing reminds me very much of a horror movie, complete with creaking staircases and weird paintings.

If there are any negatives it's that I think the romance didn't add much--to me, it seems like a means to an end, and it either could have been developed better, or the plot that the romance led to could have been developed further. I did find the epilogue sort of rushed and unexplained. Overall, this is a fast paced thriller that teens will gobble up.
