Margot begins her grieving process for the loss of her family at a dark, unfortunate orphanage. She’s relieved when she is taken in by a wealthy family who asks her to look after their disabled daughter. However, very quickly, Margot begins to suspect that something is wrong at the Copeland Castle. She doubts her new keepers, wondering if their daughter, Agatha, is as sick as they say she is. The narration and writing style of Katie Alender is excellent, as well as her pacing, characters, plot, and dialogue. I was extremely impressed by how much fun I had while reading the story. Although the final reveals of what is happening at Copeland Castle was not all that interesting and a bit contrived, I still really enjoyed the story. I recommend it to those who enjoy “The Haunting of Hill House”, “The Woman in Black”, and “The Glass House” books and films.
