The Cleaner is a crime action novel who features our main character, John Milton, who is working for a covert group agency called The Fifteen for six years. This novel is the first in the series and sets up the whole mood for the series. John is always called when the government needs something to vanish but his last mission didn’t go to well ending Milton suspended. We get introduced to Sharon and her son Elijah who live in an area of gang violence. This might be my preference but crime action novels might just not be my thing. I felt it was anticlimactic and let down. The first half of the book was very strong and interesting and the rest felt flat to me. I wasn’t able to connect with the characters and that did not help me bring this story to life. The aspect of gang violence doesn’t really interesting me. It is a concept I find very similar to others. This book wasn’t for me but if you like crime action it might be for you.
