This story is fairly complex from the start, and while I got the feeling that it isn't the first book in the series, it works as a standalone. The cover is sleek and seems to fit my idea of a spy novel cover.

It starts with an assassin getting ready to complete a task, but it doesn't go as planned. Milton starts to question his orders and doesn't do exactly what he is supposed to do, and makes the decision to leave the agency he works for. But that doesn't go as planned either. They don't want him to leave, and suspend him.

The first look ends here, and while this type of book is outside of what I usually read, I found myself intrigued and wanting to read more. I'm curious about what happens and whether Milton is able to get away. I'm curious about his emotional and psychological journey of deprogramming from a lifetime as an assassin, and how it affects him as he tries to reclaim his life.
