I’m totally intrigued by this book. It says it’s based on true events, which is mind blowing to me. I never heard of the children that were sent to northern Italy to be temporarily housed, clothed, and fed. The cover is also captivating and drew me in.
I kept waiting for something awful to happen while reading the first look and was relieved to read that they really were taken to northern Italy and are being given homes.
Amerigo seems like a very caring, smart, witty child, and I’m eager to see where his story leads. So far, he’s a very likable main character, and I find myself engrossed with the story and caring about what happens to him.
