This book delves into the past of post-World War II, so it will not come as a surprise that the tale is heartbreaking and steeped in the sense of loss. I found the prose deeply moving and the cover captures the feel of the novel -- the fog hangs like a shroud over the young boy, showing the pervading and inescapable sadness of a post-World War II world. I will say that while I might normally find this kind of story appealing, it is a little too much for me with everything going on in the world in real time -- I might take a pass on this one for now and come back to it later.
