I like Amerigo. He's got some smarts, regardless of the state of poverty in which his family finds itself. I also think he's a good-hearted young man, even as he's a typical mischievous boy. What will this opportunity to go north look like? Will it benefit him and his mother? I hope to get a chance to read the book and find out.
