I could not put this book down. It was one of the best books I've read in a while. The Cherry Robbers did not unfold the way I expected it to - I was expecting more of an alternating timeline based on the way that it started. However, I got so absorbed in Iris' story and so invested in her family dynamic that I'm glad that it stayed in her early years. Everything about this book was wonderful. The characters, the pace, the unique and interesting plot... I couldn't believe how Walker maintained so much tension when you knew from the very beginning how the story would unfold, but she did it masterfully. And although you knew the story of the sisters, the ending still managed to surprise me and touch me in a way I didn't expect. This book had a bit of fantasy in it (is that what you call ghosts?) but it didn't read as a far fetched kind of book. Part of me wanted answers and clarity as to what actually happened to the sisters, but another part of me liked the mystery. There is nothing about this book that I didn't like and I will definitely look out for future works by Sarai Walker.
