This promises to be a beautifully written mysterious gothic horror story. It opens with Sylvia Wren describing her life as a reclusive artist in New Mexico. The prose is a bit meandering, but not so much that it takes away from the story. The mystery begins when Sylvia receives a letter from a journalist who may have found out about her past. It contains letters and snippets from an article so I am looking forward to more of that. It is told in the past and the present and I'm very interested to read Sylvia aka Iris's life unfold in the rest of the book. If the rest is like the first look, I can already see this being a four or five star read.
