I would have never heard of this book if it wasn't for this website, and I am a sucker for any sort of book like this. I'm not sure how to define it. A certain amount of adventure and intrigue. Bonus points for any poison involved. Since I read Three Dark Crowns, I've needed more books in that vein of plot. The family relations tug at my heart with this MC. Not to mention, the whole set up for the plot is ominous. Also, that setting. The fact that it is set in Italy, I am ready to recommend it to everybody that I know. Teodora is an amazing character that I am willing to follow from beginning to end. I fell in love with her during the prologue as the story continues throughout the plot as she has to deal with the deaths she witnesses. Lastly, the fact that The Brilliant Death explores gender fluidity, I think makes it worthwhile for a lot of people to make an attempt to read even if its not their usual genre.
