So much incredible history!
Before I picked up this book I knew nothing about the blue people who lived in the mountains of Kentucky or the pack mule library that existed in Kentucky. It was incredible to realize that the blue people in this book were not symbolic of another race but had actually existed due to a genetic mutation. I loved that this book introduced me to history that I had previously been unaware of.
This book started off very strong, with a scene set to pull the reader in and a low of raw emotion. I think the characters and their actions and attitudes were very well written to reflect the era that the book was set in. I felt that the fear of the heroine was also beautifully expressed. This book is really fantastic and gives voice to people who have largely been ignored by history and literature.
