While both The Giver of Stars (TGOS) and The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek (TBWOTC) revolve around the Pack-Horse librarians of Kentucky, TBWOTC's main character adds in the element of a blue skinned librarian. I enjoyed learning about this piece of historical fiction that I had not heard of before. I felt that TGOS is a story primarily of the group of librarian's lives, whereas TBWOTC focuses more specifically on Cussy Mary and the patrons on her route. This made me just as invested reading about Angeline, Henry, Devil John, Jackson, and others that she interacted with on a weekly basis.
I think TGOS and TBWOTC are both great novels - TBWOTC definitely felt better researched and deeper. I would definitely recommend reading it!
