Loved that she intertwined two histories

I really enjoyed that the author was able to take two historical stories and intertwined them together! Cussy was one of the women who took it upon herself to be a horse/pack-mule book delivery woman. She delivered books to those on the outskirts of town, and made it her mission to help education those who were not as lucky. She also was one of hardly an left that had a blue tint to her skin. She was seen as a colored and often those in town were afraid of getting to close to, or touching her. Unfortunately they were afraid she would cast her "disease" onto them. Cussy because of this, was treated very terribly but she didn't let that stop her from helping others or giving kindness in return whether they deserved it or not. I think it was a great idea that the author took these two historical things and combined them together. I had heard of the blue Kentucky clan, and it was finally interesting to read a story about them and what the real reason was they had a blue tint to them.
