This book was really great. I like historical fiction in general, but I knew nothing about the pack horse librarians before I read this book. I also knew nothing about the Blues of Kentucky. The book sent me down multiple Wikipedia rabbit holes, but it was so fascinating! I also loved how Cussy Mary's character developed throughout the book - she was so strong by the end, and I really respected that. Her experiences with the doctor and the hospital were also very interesting, but somewhat traumatizing for the reader. It was also interesting to learn about the residents of Kentucky who used the pack library services. I highly recommend this book - you will learn a lot, and enjoy it along the way.
