This is a favorite read for 2020, I can't imagine the difficulty in getting around the mountains of Kentucky on horse or the people that had no means of communication. That the Rosevelt administration understood this and established Pack Libraries is remarkable. Add that to the knowledge that certain individuals have in their genes the color blue to their skin was new to me. This book was historical and perfect for how we are treating each other in the world today. That we can judge someone by the color of their skin, sex, or where they live is still something that is hard to grasp. Cussy understands that her father wants a better life for her so when she is expected to get married and her father is looking for a prospect for her it begins the story with the fact that women truly had little choices but to accept their life as it was. But Cussy's story is one of determination and survival. I loved the authors writing and historical facts!
