This book is one of the best books I have read all year. It is everything that I love about a great historical fiction. I had never heard of the Fugate Family or the Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project which are fascinating on their own let alone combined together into one perfect novel.
The characters in this novel were so lovable that each chapter brought me new tears of joy and tears of heartache. I can't remember the last time I was so absorbed into the storylines so thoroughly and completely.
Perhaps what I loved most was the realistic nature and ending of the book. Without giving anything away it was poetic, authentic and only a little bit heart wrenching. I will be adamantly and profusely recommending this book to everyone in my life.
