I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek. Historical fiction is my favorite genre, since I love learning about people, places, and events from the past, with a lovely story woven in with the facts. Prior to reading this book, I had not know about Roosevelt’s Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, or Kentucky's "blue people". Learning about both the project and the people was fascinating. Kim Michele Richardson is a very talented story teller, and it was obvious that a lot of research went into writing this book. The story and the characters were well developed. I adored the strong, main character, Cussy Mary Carter. There are some hillbillies in my family tree, which made the story even more relate-able to me.
