When I started reading it grabbed my interest because I live, born and raised, in Kentucky. There are these hills and hollers in parts of Kentucky. In 1936, I am fairly sure the people of the mountains did not have a lot of schooling. My father always said they were cut off from the rest of the state because there was no way to easily travel out of the mountains. I have never heard of this reading program but there were other mentions of programs that did exist in Kentucky. I would like to read this book.
