I took this book with me on our summer vacation and it was the perfect read. I just loved it. I was hooked from the first page.

I knew I had to read this book when I read the description - "Sarah Dove is no ordinary bookworm. To her, books have always been more than just objects: they live, they breathe, and sometimes they even speak." Sarah is known as a book charmer. And as a fellow bookworm, who wouldn't want a book to speak to you?

Aside from Sarah's bookish powers, The Book Charmer is really about the town of Dove Pond and it's people. When outsider Grace Wheeler moves to town she plans on staying no more than a year, and she is determined to keep to herself and take care of her small family - her ailing foster mother, and her niece. Grace's prickly, stand-offish exterior is a stark contrast to Sarah's warm and friendly demeanor.

Dove Pond has been on a steady decline over the years, and Sarah knows she is supposed to help turn things around. She realizes that she can only do so with Grace's help. But how do you get someone to help save a town they are so determined to distance themselves from and leave?

I really enjoyed getting to know these two characters, along with the other townspeople in the book. The small town setting works perfectly, and the little bits of magic throughout just made me wish I lived there. While the characters do tackle some serious topics, ultimately The Book Charmer is a feel-good story that will warm your heart.
