I discovered this novel on BookishFirst, read the excerpt and had to purchase it. I was not disappointed, what a fantastic story!
The Book Charmer takes place in Dove Pond where many generations of gifted families have grown up (just a hint of magic!). Some are able to "smell a man with money" and some are gifted storytellers, but Sarah Dove has the coolest gift of them all... she can talk to books. This novel mixes magic with reality seamlessly. Dove Pond is picturesque. I wasn't only invested in Mama G, Sarah, Grace, Daisy, and Trav as the main characters, but the entire town was written in such a way that I cared about each resident and was rooting for the town as a whole to succeed and come together again.
An absolutely fabulous novel about friendships, hardships, and the relationships that form if you just open your heart a little. :)
I am now very excited to read Ava Dove's story, A Cup of Silver Linings in July!
