Dove Pond, NC is not your typical small town. Established by the Dove family with its history of "seven sisters", happenings around the town are rarely typical. Sarah Dove is the seventh sister of the current Dove generation. On her seventh birthday, she discovers that the books she's always loved are talking to her! One journal in particular opens her eyes to things she never knew about her family and the town in which she lives.

Meanwhile, in Whitlow, NC, Grace and Hannah Wheeler are being escorted to their umpteenth foster home. Grace, the older sister and self-proclaimed protector, is always getting into trouble whether she's the cause or not. Hannah, the angelic looking younger sister, always manages to make people want to take her in. Now it's do-or die time at Mrs. Giano's; if she doesn't take them both into her home the two girls will be separated and Grace cannot have that happen.

Years have passed, young girls grow up and must make changes in their lives. Grace is bringing Mama G. back to Dove Pond where she grew up. Reality hasn't been to good to Grace over those years and enchantment isn't a part of her reality. But now that she's come to Dove Pond, NC will she find a reality she didn't believe ever existed? And, if she does, will it be a welcome change from the reality she's learned to accept?

As a great lover of books myself, I've learned how the enchantment within pages can sweep you away and make you believe in dreams and impossibilities truly coming to fruition. The Book Charmer is just such a book (and is VERY aptly titled). With the first paragraphs of this story I was compelled to read more about these characters, the town and how reality and enchantment intertwine. I'm honestly anticipating continuing this book to the final page as soon as I possibly can!
