I didn't know what I would think of a middle-grade story by Ruta Sepetys. My favorite part of her fiction writing is the immersive storyworlds and the depth of character, both of which are usually not as deep in middle-grade as in YA and adult. Yet the richness of the characters is what immediately draws me into The Bletchley Riddle. Somehow Sepetys and Sheinkin have crafted a story that's simultaneously humorous, mysterious, and filled with an emotional depth not often found in MG. I found myself quite sad when I finished the excerpt because I wanted more from Jakob and Lizzie and to mine even more secrets with them!
