Can we talk about the gorgeous cover that this book has?!? I mean, come on! I haven't seen a cover this pretty in a good while! Fast-forwarding, I honestly didn't know how I was going to react to this book. It's set in the 1400s, and this was uncharted territory for me. I'd never gone past the mid to late-1800s before this year, much less going back about six centuries! Nevertheless, I was pleasantly surprised. The characters are so rich and draw you into their lives effortlessly. The writing throughout this book made them jump off the pages for me, and I think that is what made all of the difference. This was a wonderfully, well-rounded story, and I'm jealous of those who haven't read it yet, because they get to read and experience it for the first time, and it is a magical feeling.
