Okay, ever since I saw my friend reading an ARC copy of this book it has been on my mind and my curiosity is peaked!! Right away I can tell Fatima is going to be a fascinating character, even just in the preview you get to see her interact with the other characters as a prime example of how she carries herself and how others view her. She is the only “freed” slave in the land and even though she is praised for her beauty, the royal family still keep her at arms length because they know that with her being picked as the kings escort she could easily uproot the whole hierarchy if she has a child. Another character I’m interested in is Hassan, the mapmaker. The way he creates and draws really drew me in right away to this book!
