Have mercy. I am no prude by any stretch of the imagination, but....why does the YA trend have to be so vulgar? From the first page of this novel, it's clear that's the direction this one is headed. Well, from the title and synopsis I guess any genius can glean that much anyway. What kind of morals and ethics do we want our young people to have, anyway? Here we have a novel that promotes a young girl trying her best to lose her virginity -- so much so that she'll enlist in her buddy to "show her the ropes" before she attempts to lose it with new hot college boy. Really? Let's get real here. While this is, undoubtedly, how teenagers roll these days, and I completely get that, how about let's not celebrate that and promote that behavior to our young readers. YA novels littered with the worst kind of profanity is bad enough, but here someone has stooped to a new level. Yikes.
