Camellia Beauregard is a belle. Belles can manipulate beauty and appearance, and are coveted by the wealthy and the royalty. The people of Orleans are naturally gray, and only with the help of a belle, can they hope to be beautiful. Camellia vies for the position of the Favorite, the belle who lives in the royal palace and serves the royal family. But Camellia quickly realizes all is not as it seems. Camellia must fight for herself, for her sister belles, and for all the people of Orleans.
I loved this book. The story was rich with color and details. Camellia was an amazing character who was both inspiring and flawed. I loved the mix of mystery of the court intrigue and relationships between Camellia and her sisters. I can't wait to read the sequel!
