The Belles begins with stunning imagery that immediately captivates you and has you wanting more. A romantic opening the feels reminiscent to a Fairy Tale opens up The Belles to introduce our main character, Camellia. I was thrilled when the narrative introduced us to the diverse world Dhonielle Clayton has created through her description of its people and Camellia's perception of them. It feels like a "Hunger Games" styled city with an emphasis on beauty.
The first few chapters are an exciting drumroll to see what will befall Camellia and her sisters. Clayton does a wonderful job at catching the readers attention and planting the questions that have the reader captivated, wanting to know more.
