Slow Start, but Quickly Engulfed
When I first read this free, extended preview, I honestly did not think I would like this book, but I feel the story picked up and got better as the story moved forward.
The style of writing includes quite a bit of elaboration which is why the story initially moved so slow for me. For example instead of saying "the beautiful sky" the text refers to the sky as something similar to flaming grapefruit and then likewise compares it to two other equally descriptive fruits which is a bit over the top for my personal taste.
Spoilers follow:
However, I really found myself enjoying the plot. I think the premise of people born literal gray and with red eyes is fascenating and I can sadly, absolutely believe a crowd would gather to see them made beautiful by means of not only makeup, but also surgery.
I am now really interested to see where this story goes!
