As soon as I saw the cover for this book, I knew I wanted to read it! The cover is so beautiful! And the book did not disappoint. The world-building was awesome. The little details, like the teacup animals, made the lush, elegant world of the Belles come alive.
The characters were also well-developed. I connected with Camellia and felt like I was right there with here as she navigated her treacherous world. I also appreciated the friendship between Camellia and her sisters. It's nice to see strong female friendships that aren't all catty insults and petty arguments. The story is fast-paced and I finished the book within two sittings. The fantastical world and the cliff-hanger ending ensures I will be reading the second book! If you enjoyed To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo or the Queen of Hearts series by Colleen Oakes, you will enjoy this read.
