It's certainly different from most young adult fiction stories. I'm not entirely sure if I would categorize it as fantasy or science fiction just yet. Camellia is clearly focused on being the best Belle, to be in control of the beauty laws. It's just odd to me to read a story about people obsessed with beauty, and how people can just change the color of their skin on a whim. I feel like this story could certainly go places, as we as a society are so focused on looks and the color of skin. At least, I'm hoping this story could go in interesting places. I felt so bad for the poor girl Camellia has to show her powers on. She clearly will have a more important role later on, as it's clear that this process involves inflicting pain.
