What I Drank Prior: it’s trivia night. I’m on my way back from second place AKA failure. I drank a bunch. And there were shots involved.
Spoiler-free Overview: so in this world, folks are ugly AF. There are those like our main squeeze Camilla who can make folks pretty. It becomes this economy. Camilla is so stoked to be the Queen’s fave but she doesn’t get it. Her bff does. But like 2 weeks later her bff disappears and she gets the spot instead? There’s gossip and shit that makes you curious about what the fuck is happening and things go from there.
Spoiler-free thoughts: so like… this book was good It wasn’t amazing or anything but it entertained. Also the cliffhanger was a thing.
Characters – I sup r appreciated them actually. They were well rounded and developed. Some of them fell kind of flat, like I really wanted to know more about why Princess was like she was but hey. Can’t have everything.
Plot – kept me interested. I kind of called the end but only the VERY end, not how they’d get there. So that was cool.
World building – damn I want to know More. It’s just so interesting to me this idea of beauty and how it is transactional. Like, you gotta be pretty to get the better nd of the deal. That happens so often! I don’t consider myself stunning by any means but I certainly know that I get my way sometimes cause I flash the doe eyes ya know? I just want to know more… and I think that was th e point.
