Entrancing
The ambience is set. The Kingdom of Orléans drew me in with its mysticism and vibrancy from the first chapter. I could not put this book down. The characters and world building was lyrically written, almost hypnotic and I knew this book was going to be a favorite. This book is about vanity and the toll it takes on everyone, no one is left unscathed. The cliffhanger ending killed me. I need book 2 now!
Camellia is a Belle and that makes her one of the most important people in the kingdom. Belles have special blood handed down to them by the goddess of beauty. The Kingdom of Orléans was cursed by a jealous god who took away their beauty and made everyone grey. Belles have the power of beauty in their blood and are the only ones who can give people their appearance back, or change it altogether.
Camellia has trained her whole life to be the favorite Belle of the royal family and a Beauté Carnaval is the chance she gets to prove she is worthy against five of her sisters. To avoid spoiling anything I'm ending my review here. This book surprised me over and over and I adored it!
