This book was a really slow start for me, if it hadn't been the imagery drawing me in I might not have finished it to be honest, but once I was drawn in I was hooked.
Camille is a powerful character that shows being a strong woman is a good thing, standing your ground is always an option even when you know there are consequences. The ideas and images in this series are awe inspiring, I found myself wishing I could visit this world, from the houses to the gowns everything just seemed so beautiful, until it wasn't.
Magic and money go hand in hand and this book is an excellent insight into multiple parts of the same world, from the Belles to the people who want their services to the people that are left just outside of being able to be part of that world it is all based around who can pay what.
I did end up reading the other book in this series and I'm so glad I did. I'm still holding out hope for a series vs a duology.
