Dhonielle Clayton paints such a vivid world through her main character that the reader clearly sees where this story is taking place. I am so appreciative of that because if it is a place that is unknown, I want to know as much about what I would be seeing and when it is through a character or characters point of view that those details help to understand them as well as what is around them. To help explain to in to account what is said by Camellia Beauregard, "I never want it to end. I never want to return home. One minute here is richer than a thousand moments there." Not one of the descriptive lines, but is still informing the reader of where she is versus where she is from. What lies ahead for her is not what she was expecting and that is such a lovely journey for the reader to take with her.
