The prose is a little too flowery for my taste, but I think it may just be the author world-building in the first two chapters. would love to read the next few to see how the plot develops!! I found myself departed waiting for the page to flip only to realize I'd reached the end of the preview.
Camilla seems like she will be a complex YA heroine - she is comfortable with the current status quo but already questioning how she can improve it or make changes. At the beginning of the novel, she wants to please the leadership, I can only assume if I were to keep reading she would develop more strongly into wanting to do what is "right."
I also would love to learn more about the system of magic that allows the Belles to do what they do - are they born with powers, randomly, or are they the result of a genetic line that is separate from the grey-creatures that everyone else is born to be?
