Right away, the language of the book captives your attention. It draws the world that the book takes place in such a beautiful way right from the start. I love that all skin colors and all sizes are beautiful too. I can see where this is going (hopefully); that beauty is only skin deep, but I wanted to take a moment to enjoy that rounder shapes and darker skin is just as beautiful as others.
The way this sample ended really left me wanting more! It was brilliant start! I really got a feel for Camellia and who she was and I liked her. I liked that she wasn't pitted against her sisters in a nasty way that would have been all too easy. She loved and supported her sisters, even though she wanted to be the best. It was a strong start.
